Did you know that sharing your Netflix login information can land you on the Rock? Yes, sharing your Netflix login could get you sent to prison in the state of Tennessee. USA Today reports that sharing your Netflix login with a friend is actually a criminal activity in a measure passed by the Tennesse legislature. Sharing your Netflix login will likely be a misdemeanor, if passed by the governor.
What does Netflix have to say about this? The Netflix Terms of Service stipulate that, “BY SHARING THE NETFLIX SERVICE PASSWORD, THE ACCOUNT OWNER AGREES TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ASSURING THAT HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS COMPLY WITH THE TERMS OF USE AND SUCH ACCOUNT OWNER SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACTIONS OF THE HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS.” According to the TOS, it appears that sharing your Netflix login is fine, provided that it is with family members. We’ll keep you posted on updates regarding these issues with your Netflix login.
Just a note.—The last movie you sent me (The Bourne Ultimatum), has some defective areas on the disk. This is just to alert you. Nothing else.
